Hayes's Wheels on the Bus Party (Part 1)

We planned Hayes's party for this past Saturday even though his birthday was last Friday.  It was nice not having a party the next day to worry about and being able to enjoy his actual birthday!  I didn't plan it that way on purpose, but it definitely worked out!  I'll probably do that again in the future!

Here are a few pictures from his special day! In order to spare you a barrage of pictures in 1 post, I decided to split it up into 2 posts.  Today's pictures will be of the decor and tomorrow I'll post the family shots.

I love a good theme, so I went with the "Wheels on the Bus" since that's his favorite song right now.

I had fun decorating our dining room shelves to go with the theme.  And since I'm a teacher, it wasn't too hard to get my hands on most of this stuff!

Close-up of the shelves.  I made the "Happy Birthday" apple banner and taped letters on a large serving dish to make a clock.

The food also went along with the theme: carrots, celery sticks, apple slices, oranges, grilled cheese and PB&J, and pretzels.  Of course, we ate off lunch trays (courtesy of the fabulous lunch ladies at my school!).

Close-up of the adorable (and delicious!) cake and cupcakes made by my WONDERFUL sister!

I found the perfect cupcake toppers from Johnna of Mama Matryoshka on etsy.

Cartons of milk, juice boxes, and water to drink.

The birthday boy's seat!

Party favors for the little guests.

Mommy and Daddy with the birthday boy!

Birthday boy wearing his cute school bus tee from Nicole of lil' threadz clothing on etsy.

I can't even believe he's one!  We had such a fun day celebrating our little man!  Stay tuned for more pictures tomorrow!

Nate Berkus for Target

As many of you have heard, the Nate Berkus for Target collection came out yesterday.  I haven't been to check it out yet (I fear for my wallet!), but here are a few of my favorites from the collection.  I'd L-O-V-E to have any and all of these in my home!

Stylish and affordable!  Have any of you scooped up any gorgeous pieces yet?

Happy Monday, Wayman Family Nesters!

Serena and Lily Sale!

Right now Serena and Lily is having a summer sale up to 70% off.  I love S and L, but most of the time, it's definitely out of my budget.  Here are a few items that WOULD have my attention (if I wasn't on a strict spending freeze since I'm on maternity leave!).

(Disclaimer: I am in NO WAY paid by Serena and Lily to endorse their items. I'm just fond of their pretty things and can't afford them unless they're on sale!)

Gumdrop Pendant $29.99
I've had my eye on these adorable pendants for a while now.  How adorable would one look hanging in a nursery or playroom?

Woven Paper Bowls $28-$38
We bought a bowl very similar to these on our last trip to Ethiopia.  I'd love a couple more to hang in a grouping together on a wall.

Jali Frame Collection (set of 3) $29.99
Loving this beautiful collection of frames.  They would look beautiful on a bookcase or dresser.

So, since I'm on a spending freeze, will someone please buy some of these beauts and let me live vicariously through you?!

Happy Tuesday Wayman Family Nesters!

Crib Ordered!

Since we'll be headed to court in Ethiopia on April 24th (read Friday's post here in case you missed our big news!), we thought it might be time to order this sweet boy a crib!

I've always had my eye on the Jenny Lind Spindle Crib.  I love the simple, classic spindle design.  We ordered ours from amazon for a pretty good price.
Here are a few beautiful nurseries that feature the Jenny Lind crib....

Friday Finds

Today I'm here to let you in on a little secret for some cute and affordable pillows (or maybe it's not a secret to you!).  Did y'all know that PB Teen had such cute pillows?!  Where have I been?

Here are a few of my favorites:

Check out the Ikat Crewel Multi Pillow Cover.  This bold, colorful pattern would be sure to make a statement.

Here's the Tropical Garden Crewel Pillow Cover.  I'm loving the big, bright flowers.

This one might be my favorite!  It's the Ikat Dot Pillow Cover

Loving the Alphabet Needlepoint Pillow as well!

They also have super cute sheet sets as well.  You know I have a love of stripes!  Check out the Cottage Stripe Sheet Set.

Once again, the ikat might be my favorite.  Loving the deep blue of the Ikat Dot Organic Sheet Set.

How fun is the Mini Dot Sheet Set?

So did my Wayman Family Nesters already know about these awesome finds?  Happy Friday all!

Nursery Chandelier

Disclaimer: If you're tired of reading nursery posts, stop reading now.  And beware there are several more to come in the future. If you're not tired of it, and have missed other nursery posts, click here, here, and here.

A few months ago I e-mailed the fabulous Laurel-Dawn from Abode Love (seriously if you've never seen her blog, you MUST check her out!  SOOO talented!) to see if she could help me make some design decisions for our nursery.  She sweetly agreed and offered to do it at a discounted rate since we are adopting.

Well let me tell you, she has totally captured my vision and helped me with some BIG nursery decisions....like fabric, some wall art, and lighting!  Here is the fabulous chandelier that she picked out.  You can find it here on Overstock.  I originally thought I wanted a gold light fixture to go with the glam feel of the room.  She thought this one would be more substantial and tie in with some of the black accents we have planned.  Also, it just looks more masculine than a gold one!  And I couldn't agree more!

Regent 5-light Iron Chandelier

I ordered it from Overstock 2 days and there it was sitting on my front porch when I got home yesterday.  Now that's service!  We haven't unpacked it yet, but I'll be sure to take pictures of it hung in place.  I can't wait to hang this beaut!

What do you think, Wayman Family Nesters?  How did she do on her pick?  So far I'm loving it! Pin It

Guest Nest: Just A Touch Of Gray

Good morning, Wayman Family Nesters!  I'm excited to share with you another home from my "Guest Nest" series!  (the first one was WAY back in August.  Read here in case you missed out!)  I got so busy with our adoption, school starting back, etc, that the series fell by the wayside!  I'm excited today to feature the home of the fabulous Rachel from Just A Touch of Gray!  I asked her to describe her favorite "nook" in her home.  I'll let her beautiful home speak for itself!  Enjoy!

I'm very excited to be here on The Wayman Family Nest and share my favorite space or nook in our house. I have lots of favorite areas but when she used the word "nook" our master bathroom came to mind. Why you ask? Well because it's small. Then I googled the word nook and the first definition that came up was:

"A small corner, alcove, or recess, especially one in a large room."

Yup, I think our master bathroom could easily be considered a small corner of our master bedroom. Hah, but hey, at least we have an en suite! :) In all seriousness I absolutely love our master bathroom. When we started our renovation we knew we had to get rid of all that 1960 blue, but we were also on a budget. We painted the walls a light grey, replaced the toilet (ahh, white!), and covered the wall tile with beadboard. We fell in love with a furniture inspired vanity piece and adhered a gorgeous marble top and over mount sink right on top. Then looking around we actually loved the blue floor with it all. It was just the pop of color our tiny bathroom needed. And I love the idea of keeping that "original" touch to the house. Vintage charm at it's finest! Hope you like it... we sure do!

You can read more about how we did it {here} and {here}.

Thanks again Jennifer for having me share my Nest!
