Weekend Fun at the Punkin' Patch

Saturday afternoon the hubby and I headed out to the pumpkin patch with his sister, hubby, and nephews.  There was lots to see and do there, although Hayes wasn't too interested in much of it (probably because he was running on a 30 minute nap!). He was more concerned with what his cousins Jack and Knox were up to!  We did go on a hayride (which I thought he would like!), that he endured thanks to a bag of Puffs and Cheerios!

Here are a few pictures from our fun afternoon!

Our attempts at taking our own picture...

Sweet boys!

We did get 1 good family shot!

10 Months Old!

Our little man turned 10 months old on Sunday.  Time is flying by way too quickly!

Here are some things that Hayes has been up to:
- Loves to listen to music and for me to sing to him.

-Getting lots of new teeth!  He now has 5: 2 on the top and 3 on the bottom.

-Babbling.  He now makes a distinct "d" sound.  He even says "dada."  He doesn't know what he's saying, but he definitely says it!

- Loves for me to read to him.

- Cried for the 1st time when someone else was holding him and reached for mama (this was a good sign to us that he's attaching to mommy and daddy).

-Shaking his head "no."  (he doesn't always do it when he means "no."  Sometimes he does it just to be funny, but he does it a lot!)

-Showing more personality every day.  He loves to laugh (he's super ticklish!) and even mimics me sometimes.

-Going to the nursery at church for the first time.  We hadn't left him yet (one of us has always been with him since we got home), so this was a big step!

- Working on feeding himself.  Sometimes he'll do it and sometimes he likes me to do it.  But, he's eating lots of whole foods now!  He'll eat just about anything we have him try!

-Still loves to sleep.  Still takes 2 naps a day-anywhere from 1-2 hours and sleeps about 12 hours a night.

-Playing with his friends (this picture was taken right before he pushed poor Hudson over!)

-Sitting up in the grocery cart.  He used to slide through, so I always had to take the stroller.  Now he loves it!

- Playing with his cousins.  He thinks they're the coolest!

-  Pulling up on furniture.

- Standing on his own for 10-20 seconds.  I found him standing in his crib last week and the hubby immediately lowered his mattress (which was long overdue!).

-Playing Patty Cake (he loves his great-grandmother!)

-Got his 1st piece of mail.  His new school sent him a postcard, which I thought was really cute!

Happy 10 months little man!  We love you!!!

Weekend Fun

This post is a little delayed, but we had so much fun last weekend, I just had to share!

Friday started off with some VERY exciting stuff!  Our good friend Paul Sikes performed on the Today Show!  Paul is an amazingly talented songwriter here in Nashville.  Hoda had seen him perform at at a writer's round at the legendary Bluebird Cafe here in  Nashville and LOVED him! So she had him come to New York and perform on the Today Show (the fourth hour with Kathie Lee and Hoda).   If you didn't get a chance to see his performance of "My Epitaph" check it out here!  If you like what you hear, head to iTunes and search for "Paul Sikes."  His album is called "Craft: By Paul Sikes."

Congratulations Paul!  We're so excited for you!

Saturday night I got to catch up with my friend Amie that I used to teach with and her husband Noah and adorable son Davie.  Noah, Hayes loves you!  He must have been mesmerized by your 2 different colored eyes!  Thanks for coming to see us guys!
(Sorry for the blurry iPhone pic.  And not sure why the hubby was taking it and not in it!)

Sunday night we had dinner with the my sister-in-law and her husband and our 2 adorable nephews.  Knox was cracking me up!  He is one cool dude in his shades.  He told me "take my picture!"

Being silly wearing Hayes's bib!

And what could be more fun than 3 cousins in a cardboard box?  Silly boys!  I see many more adventures in their future!

27th Birthday Fun

Good morning Wayman Family Nesters! Sorry for the absence for the last week. My birthday was last Monday, and I was busy celebrating for much of my long weekend. Yes, we Nashville folks were blessed with a SNOW DAY before the holiday weekend.  For my Northern peeps, the thought of being idea of being out of school for a mere 1/2 inch (or less!) of snow is absolutely proposterous. But here in the South, we love it! (Well, the teachers and students do. I'm sure the parents don't!)

Sunday after church we celebrated with my family. My mom fixed lunch and we had cake and ice cream. 3 of my siblings were out of town (1 in Texas, 1 in Florida, and 1 in Haiti), so I was definitely missing them! My parents spoiled me with a Groupon for a manicure/pedicure and a gold moroccan pouf like this one I'd been wanting for the nursery.

Not the best shot, but here's a few of my large family!  Sadly, missing 3 siblings!  What a group, right?!

My mom, Mada, and me.  Not a great pic to be able to see my grandmother, but she's almost 95 and totally amazing!

My Mom, Dad and Me

Sunday night I got to celebrate with the hubby's family at his sister's house.  We enjoyed a delicious meal and playing with our adorable nephews! (age 5 and 2)  Here are a few shots from party #2.  It's rare that my nephews will sit still long enough to take pictures with me, so I definitely enjoyed the mini photo shoot!

Silly Faces!

Love my nephews!

Monday I got to eat lunch with mom and one of my brothers.  After that I went and redeemed the mani/pedi my parents had bought me.  That night the hubby and I enjoyed a quiet dinner at Sperry's, one of our favorite local restaurants to eat at on special occasions.  We enjoyed steak, crab legs, and asparagus.  It was delicious and we were both definitely stuffed after that meal!

And Tuesday the celebration continued!  My sweet students threw one of my teammates and me a surprise party (they had a little help from the 2 other teachers I work with!).  We had cupcakes and they presented me with a book of poems they wrote about me.  Precious.  Definitely something I'll treasure forever! Long Time No Hear From!

I'm back, after a little blogging break (I hope to be able to fill you in S-O-O-N!).  We had a wonderful holidays around here and like most of you we were busy busy busy!

I go back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off, so we'll see if I can get back in the swing of things!

Here's a peek into a few things that went on around here during my 2 weeks off...

Our sweet nephews, ages 2 and 5 came to spend the night.  And we had quite a busy night!
We baked cookies (check out their concentration)...

We played on the iPad...  (how cuddly is he in his footy pjs?!)

We got our bed ready for sleeping... (the hubby is gonna love me for this one!)

We watched a Christmas movie before bed...

The nephews also helped us put up our "Christmas tree."  Sad, I know.  This isn't much of a tree, but it just got later and later and we never got around to it!  First year in my life I didn't have a real tree!  Hopefully next year we'll have a little one to help us!

We also made a few purchases and did some projects for the nursery, so stay tuned for that later this week!  I hope that you had a blessesd holiday season surrounded by friends and family!

Summer Fun With the Boys

As summer has come to an end for me (I am back to school today!), I've been thinking about how much fun I've had keeping my adorable nephews one day a week.  I am excited to start a new school year, but I will miss these little guys so much!  Here are a few pictures of some of our silly, fun summer days!

We tried to take a group shot on Aunt Jennifer's iPhone.

We ate LOTS of Sweet CeCe's!

We wore underwear over our diaper AND on our head!

 We ate at Firehouse Subs.

We wore make-up and liked it a lot!  (Don't tell his Daddy!)

We read books.

We played on Aunt Jennifer's iPad.

We laughed a lot!

We were silly a lot!

We visited Aunt Jennifer's school.

We dressed up.

We were silly some more!

We loved on each other.

That's a brief glimpse into our summer fun!  Hope your summer was as fun as ours!  Love you Jack and Knox!

P.S.  If you are Misty and were one of our winners from the Gus and Lula giveaway, please leave me your e-mail address in a comment.   Otherwise, I will have to pick another winner.  : (
Here was the comment....

So excited to be following the Wayman Family's Journey!!!
