Here's a picture of what our living room looked like when we first saw the house:

And here's a few pictures of what it looked like shortly after we moved in (excuse the fact that I'm in one and one the phone!  AND excuse the mess in the 3rd one!  We didn't take many before pictures!  Definitely not a lot going on in these pictures. 

And here's what our living room looks like as of right now...
The white arm chairs are from IKEA.  The other white chair (on the left that you can barely see) was a Goodwill score for $6.99 that I painted and recovered.  Read all about that project here.  The white shag rug was a gift from my dad.  It's nice to have a dad in the carpet business!  We ordered the ottoman online before we got married.  I'm definitely in the market for a new one.  I'm just not sure what I want yet and I need to pick something that I'll keep for awhile!  The hubby does NOT like it when I change my mind!!!

I have always wanted a gallery wall behind the couch.  These black frames are all from Michaels.  I've been collecting more frames (much to my hubby's dismay) of all different shades/textures/finishes to mix it up more and give it more of an ecclectic feel.  They'll be posts to come when I finally get around to hanging them!  The end tables are loaners from my sister in law.  The brown glass lamps were a gift from the hubby for my birthday a couple of years ago.  The green pillows are from pottery barn.  The yellow rosette pillow and the gray/yellow floral pillow are both from Target.  The floral Union Jack is from a local store Lulu.  Read more about that here. 

This end table by the front door and mirror are both from adorable local gem called Three French Hens.  If you live in the Nashville area, you must check it out!

In the frame is one of our wedding invitations that a sweet lady from church took and painted the church where we got married at the top.  It will always be one of my favorite wedding presents!  The candlesticks are from Anthropologie and the pear candles are from Lulu.

The silver picture frame is from Pottery Barn.  The clay bird is 1 of 3 that I have from a local store called Shimai. 

The hubby and I bought the TV stand from a local store called Southeastern Salvage.  We painted it white, distressed it, and put knobs on it from Anthopologie.  The media towers are from IKEA.

There you have it!  It's been a work in progress, but it will stay like this for awhile!  Did I already mention that the hubby doesn't like it when I change my mind?! : )  But if anyone has any suggestions for an ottoman that would work in our living room, I'd love to hear them!

Pierce Family's Auction

When Jill from Forever Family Adoption contacted me about donating a shirt toward their online auction, I was so glad to be able to help!  She and her husband Tyler (who is active duty in the Air Force) have 3 children, 2 of which were adopted from the Ukraine in 2008.  They are in the process of adopting Calvin and Silas from Russia.  Both of these precious boys have heart conditions.  They are hoping to bring them home in October.

I have been stressed out by trying to raise the funds for 1 adoption, so I'm sure raising money for 2 is very overwhelming!  All you Wayman Family Nesters head over to their auction here and support this sweet family!

Give1Save1

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Beth of give1save1. She was interested in helping us raise money for our adoption.  I was all ears!   Beth is a believer with a passion for helping orphans find their forever families.  Her family is also raising money for their Ethiopian adoption, so we have that in common!  Each Monday on her site, she features a new fundraising family.  The idea is basically that if each person gives $1, it will bring these sweet children one step closer to coming home. $1 really can make a difference!

I feel so fortunate that we were the family chosen this week!  THANK YOU Beth for contacting me!  I plan to give $1 each week.  I mean, who of us really doesn't have $1 to spare?  Head over to give1save1 to give your dollar.  It's amazing what happens when people come together!

Back to School Love! 

Now that school is back in session for most of us, I thought it would be fun to round up a few of my Back to School etsy finds!  I just love the beginning of a new school year!  It reminds me of my favorite line from one of my favorite movies, You've Got Mail... Debbie Downer Kinda Day

Let me just start by apologizing for the Debbie Downer tone of this post.  I just wanna be real! 

The adoption process is not always roses.  It is very much like a roller coaster ride filled with constant ups and downs.  And the last couple of days I've been feeling down.  I pray for patience with my students every single day on my way to work.  I need to pray for patience in our adoption process more often. 

It's so hard when people ask when we'll have our sweet boy home and I honestly have no idea!  I know that God has a plan for our family, but it's so hard to remember when your heart is aching for a child you've never met.  I will continue to pray for patience during this process, but deep down I know that my heart won't be whole until we've got our little boy home.

Do any of you fellow adoptive mamas have tips on passing the time during the process?  Thank you in advance!
